Theres Abbt, *1960 in Basel, ist Kuratorin einer privaten Fotosammlung in der Schweiz und arbeitet an verschiedenen Buchprojekten.

Aufgewachsen in Beirut, Libanon, durchlief sie die Schulausbildung in der Schweiz und England. Studium an der Dolmetscherschule Zürich anschliessend am Sotheby’s Institute in London. Ab 1985 war sie während fünf Jahren Assistentin von Harald Szeemann im Kunsthaus Zürich. 1989 Internship bei Leo Castelli Galerie in New York wohin sie ein paar Jahre später umzog und dort für fünf Jahre permanent lebte.
Während diesen Jahren führte sie das US Verlagsbüro von Scalo Verlag Zürich als Mitherausgeberin und baute den Scalo Project Space in Soho, New York auf, den sie bis 2001 führte. Zurück in Zürich leitete sie die Scalo Galerie vor Ort. 2006 gründete sie die eigene Galerie ABBT PROJECTS, in welcher sie während sechs Jahren junge KünstlerInnen aus dem In- und Ausland vertrat. Von 2012 bis 2020 leitete sie den Parkett Space im Zürcher Löwenbräu.

Sie war an verschiedenen Buchprojekten beteiligt entweder als Mitherausgeberin, Übersetzerin, Autorin: u.a Richard Serra, Maillard Extended, 1989; Richard Serra, Schriften Interviews, 1990; Ausstellungskatalog Cy Twombly, 1987; John Waters, Director’s Cut, 1997; Walter Keller - Beruf: Verleger, 2019. 2022 gab sie zusammen mit Mirjam Fischer die Monographie von Jacqueline Burckhardt: La mia commedia dell'arte heraus. 2024 folgt die englische Ausgabe Jacqueline Burckhardt: My Commedia dell'Arte beides bei der Edition Patrick Frey.

Theres Abbt, * 1960 in Basel, currently works as director of the exhibition space of PARKETT in Zurich and is the collection advisor for a Zurich based private collection.

She grew up in Beyrouth, Lebanon, and went to school in Switzerland and England. Studies at the Interpreting School in Zurich followed by Sotheby's Institute in London. In the following, she was assistant to Harald Szeemann at the Kunsthaus Zürich. 1989 internship at Leo Castelli Gallery in New York and a few years later moved to New York, where she lived until 2001. During these years, she managed the US offices of the publishing house of Scalo Verlag Zurich as an associate publisher and opened and ran Scalo Project Space in Soho, New York. Back in Zurich, she was head of the Scalo Gallery in Zurich. 2006 - 2012 she ran her gallery ABBT PROJECTS promoting and representing young Swiss and international artists. From 2012 to 2020, she managed the Parkett Space in Zürich's Löwenbräu.

"Making books" accompany her throughout her career. She has been involved in various book projects, either as co-editor, translator or author (including Richard Serra, Maillard Extended, 1989, Richard Serra, Interviews, 1990, Cy Twombly, Cy Twombly, 1987, John Waters, Director's Cut, 1997); Walter Keller - Beruf: Verleger, 2019. In 2022, together with Mirjam Fischer, she published the monograph by Jacqueline Burckhardt: La mia commedia dell'arte. This was followed in 2024 by the English edition Jacqueline Burckhardt: My Commedia dell'Arte, both published by Edition Patrick Frey.
